The Indiana Outstanding Advisor Award was created to recognize
the importance of academic advising at colleges and universities in the state of
Indiana.
Recipients of the award will be recognized at the annual state conference. This
award will be given
to a faculty advisor or professional advisor who has made significant contributions
to the field of academic advising based on the criteria outlined on this form.
The selection committee is comprised of experienced advisors residing throughout
the statep
The selection committee will evaluate nominations based on the evidence of effective
advising qualities and practices that distinguish the nominee as an outstanding
advisor.

Award Criteria
- Recipient must be an IAAN member
for at least one year
- Demonstrate a professional
attitude toward advisees
- Demonstrate effective
interpersonal skills
- Be Available to advisees
- Evidence of active involvement
in helping students achieve career
and academic goals
- Use of information resources
and referral agencies
- Evidence of professional development such as attendance at seminars
and professional conferences
